During my poorly spent reading week, there actually was something that I actually accomplished, and that was to get through some of the games that I had stacked both in RL and in my HDD.

Today, I'm not gonna talk about that awesomely interesting MVC3 or those disappointing PSP ports, but the Nitro+ games that I was able to get through.
Namely; Chaos;Head and much of Steins;Gate.
Since I heard in the past that Nitro+ was interested in having a market in the american regions, I'd have my hopes up for these games to be released here... but knowing the current status of Demon Bane, I'm confused whether to have high hopes, or to believe that there are also some other people than me who wish for a translation and release by a faster group of people.

To put it bluntly, I though people who haven't played Chaos;Head and who just mutter over the failed Anime port are losing out on one of the greatest [(horror+mystery)/fantasy]^literature game.
(I mean, seriously, knowing 11 eyes, Demon Bane, Tsuyokiss, and the many other mighty VNs that have fallen prey to crappy anime versions. Why does this formula FAIL to get animated every single time? And yet it succeeds with a fair rate in Mangas.)

The protagonist is a role model Otaku which shouts tons about his character, yet the readers soon find out that they know NOTHING about him.
The main female heroine is associated with murders, (seemingly)killing the protagonist in the prologue, carries around strange swords, and yet everything is centered around wishful thinking.
This is no spoilers as it will come to you within the first hour of game play.
I also give credit to this game and a certain character who appears in the game to execute the most creative methods of murder.
I've read tons of mystery novels, mangas, and VNs, but yet, the way some of the murders are carried out in this game is outwardly grotesque and yet childishly playful.

Also, it's interesting to see how translators will translate some of the memes on 2ch, since the english relative of 2ch, 4chan is closer to Futaba channel than 2ch.
It seems the internet society plays an interesting role in both Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate (And probably also will for Robotics;Notes coming next in line)
and It's probably not somehting that would come so easily when it will have huge significance in the sequel games.
... I mean, you hear of the main character of Chaos;Head's online identity within the first hour of gameply, and there are characters that speak 2ch memes out loud in the games...

Since by writing further, I'll probably lose all time that remains for the real purpose of Reading week, studying, so I won't go on much further for now...
But in all of seriousness, I really hope the Anime for Stens;Gate won't mess it up.
And I really hope these kind of stuff find some way in to the western user's hands.

Oh yeah, in the new main characters there are a few character that are apparently the Bishoujyo "clones" of historical heroes...
Minamoto no Yoshitusne and Musashibou Benkei are already revealed.
srsly, I wonder how people can make characters that looked like a big brawny old men in scrolls and manuscripts and just turn them in to cute girls...
Well, then again, things like touhou, Rance, fate and all that did this from the start...

Well, good enough that these girls are only "clones"?

Oh and-

After I was smitten by the beauty of this girl, Hazakura Seiso, I noticed that she's a "clone" of somebody, but she hasn't been told who she's a clone of...
Since Yoshitsune and Benkei are clones, I would guess she's a clone of somebody around the same backgrounds...

My personal guess is that she's a clone of
Fujiwara no Yasuhira
According to history, this guy wasn't a proper successor of the Fujiwara family, but was born from a second or third wife of his father.
Because of that, he's said to have lived quite the bloody life.
He was who was behind cornering Yoshitsune in to suicide.
In a sense, you could call this guy as sort of being a foil to Yoshitsune since at the end he fled, but was killed by one of his henchman.
His head -at least- was able to have proper burial since they say one of his family members made a proper casket for his head.

Now here's the thing.
They say they found seeds of lotus inside his head casket.
and what Seiso seems to have on her head looks like a flower of some sort...

Flower→Lotus→Yasuhira

Is this too simple minded of a guess to make?

Anyways, I'm really looking forward to Majikoi S for all the new stuff as well as the old stuff.

お久しぶりです、例のごとく前の更新からかなり間が空いてしまいましたね。
いやークリスマスでバイトのスケジュールが山積みになりましてしばらく何にもできなかったデス…。

あ、でもやっとスケジュールに空きが少しづつできたのでその時間にいろいろするよ！
って、ぎゃー！
空きのすぐそばが学校だー！
学校だ、学校が来るぞー！　早く防空壕に逃げるんじゃ！　テストの絨毯爆撃が始まるぞ！

と…
おふざけは別にして、今回は点数がずいぶんスレスレのとこにありますのでかなり真剣にやらないと無理っぽそうです。

あ、真剣で思い出した
真剣で私に恋しなさい!!　某通訳グループさんによって由紀江ルートがざっとこさ20％ぐらい翻訳されたらしいですねー。
まじこいは色々と凝ったネタとかパロディが多かったのでそこらへんをどうやって翻訳するのかが非常に楽しみです、聞いたところだとゲーム終了の寸劇の方はもう全108種類訳されてるそうで。
ムムム、流石経験がある方々なだけあって翻訳するペースがダンチです。
*某グループさんのとこは前に戦国ランスの翻訳をやったそうな、画像から見ると5かな？

いやーまじこいいいですよ、まじこい！
実は今の通訳やる前に自分も混ぜろって声かけたんですけど丁重に撃ち落とされましたｗ
「A…AMSから光が逆流する…！？　　　ギャアアアアア！」
って感じに。

因みにこの頃は11eyesは「通訳担当を過労死させその死体すらピュトス（奈落）に持ち去る」とファンから言われていたほどの難題だったらしいです、でも実は「少し独特なファイルのアーカイブ方式でプログラマ陣がうかつに手を付けにくい作品であった」、「ムービー、画像のクオリティが高いため劣化しないように字幕を付けてエンコードすることが困難であった」って感じに色んな難題が山積みだったらしいです。
そんなわけで自分はこの頃そんな素敵だけど恐ろしい噂が飛び交うゲームに手をつけることになろうとは微塵も思わなかったわけで…
…あ、ここだけの話ですよ、うん。
これは全部記者の聞いたことであり信憑性は信じる人しだいデス。

まあ、まじこいの話に戻りますが。
この作品ではメインヒロインのうち一人、わん子こと川神一子が大好きでたまりませんでした。
「努力」「友情」「勝利」とまるで「少年漫画」を絵に描いたようなヒロインだと最初は思ったのですが実は大いに違ったってことをプレイ中に思い知らされました。
一子はどちらかというと「現実」を体現したようなキャラクターだったのです。
「努力」「節制」「友情」「敗北」「挫折」「絶望」…
と、ストーリー中盤から後半にかけてはマイナス要素が盛りだくさん、
あの時ほど彼女の笑顔が切ないものに感じた時は無かったなァ…。
ネタバレしたくないので少し象徴的な言い回しで表現してきましたが、一子は数あるノベルゲーム、ADVの中で珍しく努力が当初の夢に実らないヒロインなのです、でもその絶望のどん底から恋愛によって転機を迎える展開は流石タカヒロ氏といった感じです。

ああ、こんな長い雑記書くことになるんなら通訳してたら良かったなーとか思うのですが、まあ
自己表現の場こそ一番の自己研磨の場だと思いますので。

翻訳とかしてて文章、本、歌詞、映像、アニメ、ビデオとか色々なものに突き当たるけど翻訳するに当たってー

翻訳者がその原作に対して　「理解」　を持つことが最低条件だと思う。
何語おこってるのか解らないまま言葉だけを他の国の言葉に直して意味が正しいわけがない。
これが所謂エキサイト翻訳とかのイミフ系翻訳。
もちろんこれは興味ない人間がやってても少なからずこうなるってこと。

理解を示しつつ「関心」を持つことは他の人にもわかる翻訳の第一歩だと思う。
少なくとも自分の翻訳を聞いたり、目を通したりするのは他の国の言葉だという事にに構わずその何かに関心を持ち、なおかつ理解したいと思っている人々である。
このケースは翻訳者、編集者、レポーターの知識不足として雑誌や生の翻訳などでたまに見ることができる。
このような人々の関心に答えるためには翻訳者もその物事に対して関心が必要である。

理解し関心を持ちつつ、なおかつそれにある程度身を捧げる事ができる、「愛」があること。
これが最良条件だと自分は思う。
翻訳するものの中には個性的な言い回しがあったり、難しい言葉か使われたりすることもよくある。
それらは「理解」と「関心」を持てば安直な言葉に訳すことができる。
だけど、それはその言葉の特別性をそのまま損ねていることにならないだろうか？
その言葉の意味を、感覚を、雰囲気をできるだけ損なわずに伝えたい！
そう思うことができ、そのために辞書を引いたり、人に聞いたり、調べることに身を挺することができる。
こればいわば理想系であると思う、もちろん誰しも何にでも愛を持てるわけは無いからあくまで理想系。

…でも自分の言語能力が思った以上に低レベルでもう三途の川渡りそうだよー！
とか思ってる通訳を始めて一年たつかたたないかの人物がここに…ぐすん。

でも好きなものは好きだし、今自分のやってる通訳も、優先的にやってる東方や11eyesの通訳も大好きだからできるかぎりのことはやったるぜー！！

…こう豪語してしまったからにはもう後には引けない…よし！　最後までやりたおすべ！

…＠ネタ解るかどうかはわからないけど、基本的に11eyesのキャラの能力ってこんな感じだよね
*ネタが解らなくっても一応ここから先はネタバレだゾ！
ゆか「ジャスト一分だ。　いい夢見れたかよ？」
賢久「へへっ、燃えたろ？」
雪子「私は死神に嫌われていますから」

流石に駆君のはちょっとネタを見つけにくいかな、ニコニコのタグでTAS眼ってのが一番それっぽい。
皮肉にもTASは目指した結果を得るため何千何万とセーブ＆ロードを繰り返しているのだが…
近頃のゲームにしてはかなり高い死亡率を持つ11eyesだからこそプレイヤーから見てはこの俗称が一番しっくり来るのかもしれない…。

Updates (sorry I haven't touched this since two months ago...) about the stuff I translated.

11 eyes
An additional 8 or so scripts translated for 11 eyes through the past week and a bit.
I hope this brings the over all translated percentage up by 1 or 2 percent.

A few more planned for the following week....

4th Touhou M-1
Koishi & Satori manzai translated for 4th M-1. Furi is working on it right now -I think- so you guys should be seeing it on his channel some time soon....

Can't wait to translate the next M-1!

Held back since Reimu's armpit reactions are too sexy.
Jokes aside, some few more are planned for next week.

Furi has kindly taken on the role to edit the stuff that I'm gonna translate , so I'm ready to get back to this after I've settled a few more things that I need to get done(Like 11 eyes and for busy people series).

Not publishing a translator's hard work without a legit excuse is totally the "best" thing you can do to keep the translator's faith and motivation going.

あっと言う間すらなく知れ渡っちゃったっぽい。

上二件は知らないうちに転載、宣伝されていたっぽいものだけど最後のはManga Gamerさんと共同で11eyesを英語化するべき、とプロジェクトのサイトに書かれたコメントでした。

なんかこう、自分たちの努力の成果（?）がこんなに早くでると驚きよりもうれしさというか、こう、みなりぎりと言うような何かがあるような気がしますｗ

と、言いつつ…
ここから真剣な話：

…正直Manga Gamerさんと共同で作成するってのは自分も大賛成だしLassさんが正式にこっちで11eyes を販売できるのならそれに越したことは無いと思っているのですがー　（なんか近頃あの有名なminoriさんとNo name losersさんのとこでも似たようなことがあったらしいですねー…）
正直云いますとうちらはまだ小さい弱小グループで雰囲気としては大学生グループの部活動みたいな…
全員で精一杯頑張り、滞りない英訳を目指し、尚且つ楽しみたい、だって自分らこういうゲームが大好きだから
…そんなノリで英訳に望んでいるのですが、Manga Gamerさんとのパートナーシップになったら実際にこっちの人が相応のお金を払って読むためのものでなければいけないため自分たちが作っているものが原文相応に素晴らしいものになるのか、時々不安に思います…。

ぶっちゃけ早い話が、以前こっちの会社が担当した粗悪な英訳の様に原作の顔に泥をぬるような真似はしたくない。

多分日本人のそっちの筋の方だと、
『同じ作品が好きって理由で偶然会った人たちとする初コミケグループ参加』
…みたいな感じなのかもしれない…。

でも正直この書き込みを入れた方はManga Gamerさんと何も繋がりが無いかもしれないしこれもそれも全部余計な思い過ごしかもしれない…でも『もしも』と考えてしまうと嬉しい様な不安の様な、微妙な気分になってしまいます…。

So, in short, what I wanted to say was that:
-I feel even more up to the job since word about 11 eyes spread so much so quickly
-But the third pic (as you can see) makes me think if our stuff is good enough that people will pay to read.
-Although this may be all useless thinking… But it is true that I'd rather that Lass was able to open a market here, rather than people pirating stuff...

Welp, I better get back to translating before all this becomes useless thoughts… XD

First patch is OUT!

11 eyes patch is out!

...Well, we're actually still editing stuff on it so it'll still probably have some errors, mistakes and such remaining in there once in a while, but overall it should be playable.

Somebody told me that our project got 4th in views at Visual Novel Aer -which I feel really amazed about- and hopefully we'll do our best to work up to those expectations.

...
But right now I'm really sleepy and tired so I'm gonna talk more about this in a later post...

...I need to get a less tiring job... lol

So, a good three weeks are about to pass without the patch coming up and it my fault in quite the slice of the trouble for all the errors I've made to screw up the patch... Sorry guys...

Anyhow our current stage it as the Quality checking stage, we found lots of stuff we needed to edit before we can create a trial patch so we're scurrying around with that as I say this.

Anyhow, at least now that the trail patch is within eye reach distance I may be able to talk about my future resolutions of what other games I want to translate.

But on the other hand, if people can suggest me stuff to play that I might like, I could get pumped up about those things too! XD

Recently, I've been up to other things too
...Like subbing Nurarihyon no Mago at Phuzy Subs

Personally I really enjoyed the opportunity since I love the anime and like plot line along the supernatural in general. (Well, I like stuff like Touhou, so that's a give away.)
It also quickly became my favorite anime in the season, so I thank people at Phuzy Subs for giving me the opportunity to sub my favorite anime!
I finished translating up to Ep 10 last night, so you guys might be seeing some more of that in a bit more!
...I hope (・ω・；)ﾀﾌﾞﾝﾈ･･･ﾀﾌﾞﾝ･･･

Oh, but even if you watch it on the internet, don't forget to buy it when you can! xD

I just noticed that I fell in love with another Yukionna (Snow Woman)
back when I was about 7~10 years old.
It was while reading 地獄先生ぬ～べ～ (Jigoku Sensei Nu~be~ / Hell teacher Ne~be~) that I got strongly attracted to Yukime.

...Really...
So many Yukionna in Mangas and Animes are SO ATTRACTIVE!
(I won't say "so damn hot" since they tend to be freezing cold lol)

Right now, we're having some troubles with the group we're associated for 11eyes translation patch.
(Right now it seems to be the programmer and I doing most of the work with the exception of a few people volunteering to do the editing and such...)

This puts us in quite an awkward situation, since we were going to get the editing and the image editing done by people from the group we were working with...
...But because that idea's gone *kerplop* -quite literally- we need people that can assist us in finishing the things necessary for the trial patch of 11 eyes.

Here is some stuff that the group we were working with has abandoned us with:
(Well, "abandoned" since they aren't replying with anything...)
1. Editing
2. Image editing
3. Test run/Quality Check

We're trying to do much of it by ourselves, but we believe we are in need of people who can help out with these kinds of things...
1.People who are good with the English language (They can spot errors and know how to fix it)
2.People who can fiddle with images with stuff like Photo Shop

I have a friend working on editing for us right now, but I don't want to put so much burden on one guy, and since he's gonna be back with all his studies in some while....

Welp, that's quite it I guess...

So, I finished translating material until the insertion of the OP.
I'm not sure if the trial patch will be just until that, or including the rest of the scene that the OP comes in with.
If it is all until the OP and the remainder of that scene be put in with the actual "routes" of the characters, then you guys might be seeing the trial patch not too soon from now.

Anyhow during translating of it, I couldn't help but laugh and think for hours on how the referenced lines should be put as.
These were the two that made me smirk the moment I saw it.

It was none other then his father, Hnama Yujirou who is said to be the "Strongest living thing on earth".
After a few panels, words that astonished both Baki and the readers sprang out from his mouth...

I guess it's because Gundam often pushes their main (sometime unhelpful) heroins on the spotlight, I get a real liking for characters like Allenby, Puru, Purutwo, Hamann, Sochie ...etc.

First script translation in about a week and a bit...
Twice have I lost data for this one... I need to think about getting something to protect my PC from balckouts and those random things that takes away what I worked on for so long...

On a much different note, I found out the other week that one of my favorite 18+VN was getting a port on the PSP and coming out in about a month.
...I missed it all through this time, and yet I never expected it to get a PSP port since a good one third of the game was scenes with sexual content...

R.U.R.U.R -petit prince-

The story is very dense on sci-fi and is a personal favorite for its distinctive world view.
In a far future world, mankind goes extinct and all that remains are things like the artificial intelligences that they have left behind. (In this story, calling them "Robots" are prohibited as that's seen as a term used for machines which do not a mind of their own.) But one day, they find a capsule containing a human child, the last man kind. Unfortunately, because of the damaged cryo-sleep capsule, the child doesn't have any memories. When the child comes to age, he is to make a "decision" that might change the very world that he lived in for so long....

The charm of this VN is how pure all the characters are -and the pain such purity brings-, the beauty of its music, and the overwhelmingly established world view.
Another thing that sci-fi junkies like me may be able to enjoy are the many references that it makes to the many famous sci-fis and novels that became the bases to it.
One example is the title, R.U.R.U.R which probably comes from R.U.R (Rossum's Universal Robots) by Karel Capek. His name appears in the VN as the "Capek law" that bounds all of the artificial inteligences of the spaceship Saint-Exupery... which is the same name of the author that wrote the novel "The little prince"... and on the list goes.

...On the other hand, the only bad thing about this VN is how much of a immature brat the main character is.
If you were the type that smashed your PS2 controller in your TV screen while you were playing Tales of the Abyss since Luke was such a brat until he cut his hair... I suggest you stay away from this VN.
Also, if you have been playing lots of type-moon stuff where the main characters are all too cool while maintaining their comical aspect... brace your self when you play this because you'll only like the girls and droids.

Welp, I've stated all the goods and bads, but even after I stated all that about the main character... I'd still play this game for all the other characters. It's just because all the other characters are just that beautiful and the story is worthwhile for it.
(I know that the VN database didn't give such a high rating for it, but VNs tend to be much more choosy than the average word only novel for all ages and all audiences.)

I'm almost done my work intensive week and a bit and should be back to translating in some bit more.

On a different note, I was able to get a bit of both of the Sake you see on your left and...
I'm not drinking beer or wine for a while. XD

One on the left side is OkunoMatsu Daiginjyou "Shizuku" and the one on the right hand side is " Nanbu Bijin" Daiginjyou and a volume of Negima for size reference.
I can't handle too much alcohol so I only got a cup or two, but these were on a completely different level then the average sake... Smoothly refined and yet burning at the same time.
Shizuku was more refined and hardly felt like alcohol at all, but the Nanbu Bijin had a punch of taste and distinctive smell of Sake at the same time.

Shame I only got a cup or two...

So, the first patch that includes the first few scripts in the game.
It has yet to be edited and stuff, but it's rolling along.
The trial patch should be made public once we finish till the OP.

It's up to you to decide whether this is a well made troll, or a actual project =P

Some friends suggested me to have a place to write about the translation projects that I'm doing and whatnot so I decided to start this blog.
This blog will also contain my random talks from time to time, but I shall keep updating about progress made and all that.
